"... I find a way to take your case personally. You have come here for an advocate, so that is what I owe you. There is a time to back off, to look objectively and see it from another perspective, but first I see myself as your unequivocal proponent."

Dan is active in estate planning and business planning, business and commercial law, real estate, and litigating civil matters. He has experience representing business clients ranging from banks to farms and dairies, and from cities to telephone companies and commercial toy and novelty distributors.  He has counseled the purchase or sale of a variety of business interests including banks, craft stores, pharmacies, equipment supply, veterinary services, and surveying, as well as commercial and residential real estate.

Dan has been practicing law in Ottawa since 1999, and is a partner and owner in the firm.  He has successfully prosecuted and defended appeals in the Kansas Court of Appeals, and won and collected more than one half million dollars for his client in an international contract federal jury trial.  Dan is a zealous advocate, litigating not only federal cases but also state court matters in several counties in the region, including Franklin, Douglas, Johnson, and the surrounding area.

He grew up in Kansas, and earned his undergraduate degree immediately after high school.  He then served four years in the U.S. Navy before returning to Kansas to pursue graduate studies at the University of Kansas School of Law.  While in law school, he was on staff of the Kansas Journal of Law and Public Policy which published his article regarding secured transactions, and he worked for the Paul E. Wilson Defender Project.

Dan has served as a member of the Board of Trustees for a private college and other not-for-profit organizations, having contributed now more than twenty years on such boards. Dan is a member of the Kansas Bar Association as well as a member and past president of the Franklin County Bar Association.
